Afromosia wood
The Afromosia tree has its roots in central Africa. It is a tropical hardwood excellent for flutemaking thanks to its high moisture resistance and durability. The heartwood starts out from a yellow to brown color, and over time will darken to give it a more yellow to golden and brown to mahogany colored pattern.
Afromosia wood has a sincere and open tonal quality. Unfortunately Afromosia has become an endangered species. I will therefore not be purchasing any more Afromosia wood, and only have a few pieces left to make flutes, which I can offer in my store only sporadically.
