The mighty Oak tree stands as a symbol for strength and endurance. Oak wood has a high density giving it strength, and it is very resistant to insect and fungal attack because of its high tannin content. The wood has very beautiful grain markings.
Oak isn’t often used as a wood for instrument building however, because it has wide pores that are difficult to fill and it has a tendency to warp when drying. But when properly sealed, dried and crafted into a flute, oak has a beautiful comforting and wise sounding voice. The sound is warming on midtone to lower key flutes (G – F – E and lower) and has a bright character on higher (A – B and higher) keys.
All flutes come with a flute bag. Every flute bag is handmade with organic cotton to perfectly go with your flute.
Every flute includes a 1-hour workshop with myself. For all practical purposes this workshop is held online, using the platform of your preference: Zoom, Skype, Whatsapp…
