Pine wood
The humble Pine tree provides one of the most readily available and cheapest woods to be found. Yet the flutes made from pine wood sound extraordinarily well. The tone is soft and sweet, bright and melodic.
Pine trees are found all over the world. They are long lived and typically reach ages of 100–1,000 years, some even more. Being an evergreen tree, pine wood symbolizes immortality and eternity.
There are many different varieties of pine. Pitch pine is part of the Southern Yellow Pines that grow in North America, home of the Native American flute.
